Nick Cannon continues to mourn the death of his 5-month-old son Zen, who died of brain cancer in December.

The producer and comedian posted a sweet message to his late son in an Instagram post on Friday.

“Still missing my little dude,” said the father-of-six in the caption of a post which featured a photo of five of his other children — Monroe, Moroccan, Zillion, Zion, and Powerful Queen.

“His Spirit and brightness were soo strong #ZensLight…The whole family, We ALL miss you young King! Forever Our Angel!”

In late December 2021, the 41-year-old revealed on the Nick Cannon Show, that his youngest son had passed away due to a rare form of brain cancer.

“Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus that was pretty much a malignant, invasive midline brain tumor, brain cancer,” said a tearful Cannon on the show. “It’s tough.”

Cannon and Zen’s mother, model Alyssa Scott, noticed that he had breathing issues when he was around 2-months-old and initially thought that Zen had a sinus infection.

After subsequent surgeries and procedures, Zen’s health took a turn for the worse around Thanksgiving.

“We were having quality-of-life conversations,” said Cannon to PEOPLE. He and Scott decided not pursue various treatments for cancer in order to keep their son “as happy as he could possibly be.”

“We could have had that existence where he would’ve had to live in the hospital, hooked up to machines, for the rest of the time,” he added. “To see that happen to a 2-month-old, I didn’t want that. I didn’t want him to suffer.”

Cannon said he was with Zen when he took his last breath on December 5, 2021.

The Masked Singer host also spoke highly about Scott, whom he said is “the strongest individuals” he has ever seen.

“For a mother who carried a beautiful child for nine months and nurtured and cared for him every single day through this process… I attempt to be there for her, but I watch her strength and I’m in awe daily,” he said.

“Oh my sweet Zen,” said Scott on Instagram back in December 2021, along with a video montage of Zen. “The soreness I felt in my arm from holding you is slowly fading away. It’s a painful reminder that you are no longer here.”

Scott previously told PEOPLE that it was “a privilege being Zen’s mommy” and that his “spirit and light will shine bright forever.”

In January 2021, Scott and Cannon announced that they were expecting Zen in June.

That same month, Cannon welcomed his twins— Zillion and Zion —with DJ Abby De La Rosa.
